When I go in to the past and try to understand how our ancestors have written such wonderful books like Panineeyam, Yoga Sutras, Natya Sastra, the epics, the kavyas and dramas and treatises in almost every possible field of knowledge in the days when there were no proper writing tools or facilities, I wonder with all the facilities of computers, graphics and reference materials how little are we achieving..and feel 'proud'...

Trust

During life we come across thousands of people but very few remain your real friends.

Those friends from your younger days who know you in and out remain with you, others come and go.

People force themselves to friendship at times and most of them do so out of selfish reasons. Trust is the basic law of friendship. False friends are everywhere, true friends are rare!

Ipad ! it looks almost a magnified version of iphone. I just started using it, a gift my brother in law cum student presented to us in the US. It has great looks, easy manoeuvrability and user friendly features. It will not replace a laptop or a computer, its only an additional gadget!

Cool Spring Elementary School

My three grand children Shivani, Sachin and Shriya study in "Cool Spring Elementary School" at Leesburg, Virginia. Today our daughter in law Vandana took us to the school for a music show where a group of musicians performed and school children of the I grade presented two group songs. Two of my grand children Sachin and Shriya are in the I grade. Its a sheer joy watching them perform. After that we went to their class, the teacher welcomed us, while Sachin took me round the class Shriya took my wife around. We enjoyed the school, not just its infrastructural facilities but their academic atmosphere as well.

Thomas Jefferson's house at Monticello

This is my son Bharadwaz, daughter in law Vandana with our three grand children Sachin, Shivani and Shriya seated in that order with me and my wife Jaya on either side.
In the back ground is Thomas Jefferson's house at Monticello. Jefferson was the 3rd President of the US 1801-1809. He purchased Louisiana from Napolean at a cost of less than 3 C an acre!
It was great seeing this place while Sachin told us on our way about the Presidents of the US.

Climatic changes

Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana was great! I went there to deliver a lecture on Swati Thirunal. It was followed by 25 youngsters all from the US singing 13 of his compositions admirably well with perfect diction and impeccable music!

While we are here in the US, the news of my brother in law Vijay's death came as a blow to us.
He has been a very close friend for nealy 4 decades. I don't know how I will contain it.
May his Soul rest in peace! A tearfull farewell to my Vijay!

We came to the US on March 29. Any cold is COLD for Chennaites!
